Moderate disputes

Separate a challenge to a Mission decision from conduct, fraud, and safety cases.

A verification challenge asks whether a Mission rule was applied correctly. A conduct case concerns behavior in the Space. A fraud case concerns intentional manipulation. A safety incident may require immediate protection. Do not collapse them into one vague “dispute.”

For a Mission challenge:

  • preserve the original policy and evidence;
  • identify the decision being challenged;
  • allow the permitted Member explanation;
  • assign a reviewer without a conflict;
  • record the final reason;
  • update the reward state only through the approved outcome.

Use holds when necessary to prevent an irreversible reward transition while a valid review is open. A hold is temporary and needs an owner and reason.

Moderation should be proportionate. Record restrictions, notify the affected person when safe and lawful, and provide an appeal path where policy requires one.

Patterns matter. Repeated reversals may reveal a bad Mission rule, inconsistent reviewers, or coordinated abuse. Fix the source of the problem rather than treating every case as isolated.
