Utility, backing, and passes
Separate earned ZYNC utility from paid membership benefits and explain how backing supports Spaces.
Held earned ZYNC has product utility through backing. A Member’s balance creates backing weight that can be pointed toward Spaces. Unassigned weight can follow Spaces where the Member has been active.
Backing steers:
- revenue support that can enrich real-money reward pools;
- a separate Backed by the community discovery lane.
Backing never steers ZYNC emission and never creates a cash payment to the holder. It is revocable rather than permanently locked by the Member.
After governed release, an acquired ZYNC balance may carry backing and held-balance governance power. It does not purchase contribution history, proven-contributor doors, reputation, or operator qualification. Those remain tied to verified participation.
Passes have a different job
Member and Member+ passes are sold only while the founding phase is open. New sales stop permanently when the phase closes by depletion or its hard deadline. Existing passes may retain their published utility, but the platform does not renew or resume their sale. Pass receipts support founding and do not enter recurring platform revenue.
Passes can provide published utility such as access, recognition, priority, or community benefits. They cannot:
- purchase ZYNC;
- increase a ZYNC multiplier or earning cap;
- make identical verified work earn more ZYNC;
- create stronger governance weight.
This boundary lets communities offer useful membership products without selling contribution. Every pass page should state exactly what the pass provides and avoid implying anything outside those terms.
